About the event
UKRAINETT and OsloMet invite you to an open breakfast seminar that takes a clear-eyed look at Ukraine’s macroeconomic developments and the prospects for Norwegian-Ukrainian economic cooperation. We will discuss the state of Ukraine’s economy nearly four years into the full-scale war, financing needs for defence and public services, the role of international support, and how Norway and Norwegian business can deepen cooperation in the years ahead.

Speakers
Kristian Åtland
Chief Research Scientist, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) and Professor II in Political Science, Nord University; member of the UKRAINETT steering group. He holds a PhD in Political Science from UiT The Arctic University of Norway and has worked on Russia, Ukraine and the wider post-Soviet region for more than three decades.
Julie Helseth Udal
Researcher at FFI since 2018 with a focus in recent years on the Russian economy and defence industry. She holds a Master’s degree in Russian Studies from the University of Oslo and co-authored a 2025 research report on the status and perspectives of Ukraine’s economy.
Kjartan Svaland Tveitnes
Managing Director, NUCC. He has worked with and in Ukraine for close to ten years. Academic background in political science and languages of the post-Soviet region, with prior experience from Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan, including at the Norwegian Seafood Council (2012–2015) in Moscow.
