Event Recap: Investment Protection in Ukraine | 24 March, Kyiv and online

On 24 March, the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce hosted a dedicated discussion on investment protection in Ukraine, bringing together over 100 participants both in person and online. The event opened with a panel featuring representatives of international investors and financial institutions already operating in Ukraine. The discussion provided practical, experience-based insights into entering and working in the Ukrainian market, managing risks, and cooperating with development finance institutions.

We were pleased to welcome:
• William Greene, Norfund (online)
• Oksana Cherednyk, Scatec ASA
• Hanna Shuvalova, Horizon Capital
• Ståle Torgersbråten, Eksfin

The second panel focused on how investment protection mechanisms function in practice, highlighting the role of Ukrainian institutions in supporting and safeguarding international business activity.

Speakers included:
• Polina Lysenko, NABU (online)
• Yuliia Mykhailiuk, Business Ombudsman Council
• Yurii Bielousov, ESBU

A key takeaway from both discussions was the critical importance of structured dialogue between business and state institutions.

Such engagement is not only essential for navigating regulatory and legal complexities, but also for building trust, predictability, and transparency - all of which are fundamental for long-term investment decisions. In the context of Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, this dialogue becomes even more important, enabling faster problem-solving, alignment of expectations, and more resilient partnerships.

Despite ongoing security challenges, Ukraine continues to present investment opportunities. The commitment demonstrated by both international investors and Ukrainian institutions reflects a shared understanding: investing in Ukraine today is not only about economic return, but also about contributing to stability, recovery, and long-term growth.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all participants who joined us both in person, despite the prolonged air raid alert, and online from different locations.

A special thank you to our speakers for their openness, professionalism, and strong dedication. It is truly encouraging to see such a high level of motivation and engagement, and we highly value the opportunity to collaborate with professionals who are genuinely committed to advancing investment in Ukraine.

We look forward to continuing this important conversation!
